THINGS THAT KEEP YOU FROM BEING A WITNESS

Answer: “People don’t seem interested in Christianity.”

Recently I visited a new store that opened in our district. It’s a rather large outlet that sells everything from food to furniture and festive decorations.

Let’s just say shopping isn’t my thing at all. However, I am happy to share in someone else’s enjoyment of retail recreation on the rare occasion!

Surprisingly, this store visit was different. Walking down one of the food aisles something interesting caught my eye and soon the wafting aromas ignited my appetite. A sharply dressed chef standing behind a steaming hot plate was cooking up generous bite sized portions of rare tender beef strips. I willingly accepted an invitation to taste test.

Wow! That beef was real Aussie beef and possibly the best beef I have ever tasted; it was amazing to say the least! Immediately I was hooked. I wanted to know exactly where I could buy a slab of this mouth-watering meat for a meal.

Sometimes people don’t seem interested in Christianity because they have never tasted real Christianity. They may have experienced religion. They may know someone who calls themselves a “Christian”, but they may have never experienced a relationship with a real Christian who loves Jesus and sincerely follows him. They may never have been part of a church who deeply love God and love one another.

You are the taste of Christianity that people in your life are sampling. Never underestimate how your life and the way you live and interact with the world around you can ignite a person’s interest in Christianity.

“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” – 2 Corinthians 2:14-15
